Chromium and Turkey

 

Chromium is not a mineral listed on any stock exchange in the world. Price fluctuates based on supply and demand. Turkey combines world's largest chromium reserves with investment in high quality production to meet China's increasing demand. In 2009 Turkey exported 1,758,719 tons of chrome ore. %87 of the chrome ore was exported to China, %7 to Sweden, %3 to Russia and %3 to various other countries.

In 2010 Turkey exported 2,258,306 tons of chrome ore. %86 of the chrome ore was exported to China, %7 to Sweden, %2 to Russia and %5 to various other countries. Chrome is the 3rd most produced metal in the world and is crucial for stainless steel production. China is the largest market for the chrome ore.

Every year over 8 Million Tons of chrome ore is imported by China. The top suppliers of chrome ore to China are as follows: %40 by South Africa, %25 by Turkey, %10 by Oman, and %25 by other countries such as Pakistan, India, Kazakhstan, Iran, Philippines and Brazil.
